London Marathon: Runner Dies Just Moments After Race

 


A runner from the just concluded London Marathon on Sunday died on his way home from the race.

Steve Shanks, 45, ran the race in two hours and 53 minutes, but organisers on Wednesday revealed Steve's heartbreaking death shortly after completion of the race


A statement from organisers read: "Everyone at London Marathon Events was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden death of Steve Shanks as he travelled home on Sunday 23 April after taking part in the London Marathon.

"Steve, who was 45 and lived in Bingham, Nottingham, was a very experienced runner who had completed many marathons and finished on Sunday in 2:53:26.



Wife of Stephen Shranks Mrs Jessica shared her shock in a post on Facebook.

She wrote: "It’s with great sadness, that I wish to announce the loss of my wonderful husband, Stephen Shanks.

"His passing was sudden & out of the blue. He was returning home having spent the day participating in the London Marathon. As you can imagine I’m absolutely in shock & devastated," Jessica continued.

A GoFundMe in Steve's memory has been set up, and reads: "Steve was a keen runner never happier than running anything, from his local Parkrun, to the Bob Graham Round.

"But he was more than just a runner he was a musician, a knitter and a renowned quizzer who possessed of extensive knowledge of terrible pop music.

Condolences from around the world, including the major sponsors of the marathon are being observed while plans are being made for Stephen Shranks to rest in Nottingham.

Leeds In Relegation Menace After West Ham Defeat

Nigerian chef Hilda Baci breaks Guinness World Record for longest cooking time, cooks 88 hours & still cooking .

 Congratulations have poured in for Nigeria’s chef, Hilda Baci, as she finally breaks record of existing Guinness World Records holder, Lata Tondon. The current holder of the is an Indian chef Lata Tandon, who set a Guinness World Record for cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes non-stop in 2019 . The 27-year-old has been cooking nonstop since 4 pm on Thursday, May 11, and plans to keep cooking till 4 pm today to reach her record goal of 96 hours.
